Hey all,
So, this incident that I’m going to share today dates back to when I was almost selected for my college. Almost because there was a GD that we were required to clear. So, what happened is that few of the students who were there with me were called for the same. So, the topic on which we were all required to discuss was ‘Whether it’s important to stand up during the beginning of the movie when the national anthem plays or is this all a sham and respect always comes from within, and all this is not necessary.’ So, generally in such GD’s one is required to either speak in the favour of the topic or against it. Ergo, I chose to speak against it because I truly believe that respect comes from within and even though such small gestures and little things matter but then again these all are small little things that describe our respect towards someone or something. Therefore, somewhere or the other both things are interconnected and describe the same thing only but if you look at it closely, you will surely notice that respect is a feeling, an emotion and emotions are not always meant to be shown or described they are to be felt.
You can’t assume or say for a fact that someone respects his/her nation or is a patriot just by looking at him, standing in the theatre. You never know maybe he/she is doing all this just because he is told to do so and not out of respect. All in all, I highly believe that it is a matter of respect that should naturally come from within and not just because it’s a law or rule.
If a person feels obliged towards one’s nation, its anthem and has that sense of respect for it then no matter what, wherever he is or whatever the time is, nobody needs to remind him or inform him about the same. It’s a phenomenon that differs from person to person and therefore there should be no such law or rule regarding the same. Because I firmly believe that forcefully nothing can be obtained. Let people be the judge and the contestant too. Let them choose and see for themselves.
What’s your take on this? Do let me know in the comment section.
Thank you.
