We'll be missing Gojo for a while, which is unfortunate because, despite what Akutami Gege has said, I really like Gojo as a character in Jujutsu Kaisen. That being said, he's an OP character, so it will be challenging to develop scenarios in which the main cast faces genuine risks and difficulties if Gojo Satoru isn't the protagonist. Furthermore, there are only so many justifications for why the most powerful sorcerer can't constantly take on the most formidable and dangerous foes; he can only be contained inside a barrier for a limited amount of time because, well, he's the strongest; work trips can be effective for a while, but the guy can teleport; etc.
Thus, to help the children grow Gojo gets in the way and must remain sealed, which hurts a lot, so that he can deal with Kenjaku, the sorcerer who was formerly known as Kamo Noritoshi. Even if Akutami had tried harder, this name couldn't be any more ironic: Ken, which means kindness, and Jaku, which means salvation.
I have no worries that the children would rescue Satoru Gojo at this point, but how can they let him go? Tengen-sama informed them, highlighting a subject found throughout Jujutsu Kaisen: consequences. When Satoru Gojo begged his friend Shoko Ieri not to destroy Suguru Geto's body in accordance with jujutsu rules, he let Kenjaku obtain a body through the cursed manipulation technique. He eventually let down his guard, got sealed, and provided the ideal justification for the higher ups to frame him as Geto's accomplice. On the younger side, there is Yuji, a physically gifted student whose life was saved by his decision to save Megumi by eating Sukuna's finger.
The inverted spear of heaven, which nullifies cursed methods, and the black rope, which can disrupt and cancel cursed techniques, are now required to save Gojo Satoru. However, both of them are out of reach because of Gojo's previous deeds:
The story behind how we got here is interesting, though: in one of the best manga fights (Fushiguro Toji vs. Gojo Satoru, round 2; well, round 1 is also amazing), Satoru broke the inverted spear of heaven when he was a second-year student and had not yet developed his domain expansion. It's unclear what he did with the remains, though, and it's no longer useful. The images are unclear, which is very frustrating.
Gojo dodged the purple spear that was aimed at him from the side and hit Toji in the chest. The spear's chain broke because Toji was in front of Satoru, but it's unclear what happened to the spear after that. Since the fight was so fantastic, I no longer think that Gojo's use of purple destroyed it. Up until recently, I was unaware of what would happen to the spear and its fragments.
