What is clay?
Clay derives from the decomposition of rocks and soil. Made up primarily of alumina, silica, and water, people have long put this material to various uses. Today, potters fire clay to make both earthenware and stoneware ceramics for artistic reasons. In the past, clay served as the basis for tools, shelter, and more. Knowing how to make clay from dirt can serve you well as a survival method in dire situations.
All humans want to live in harmony with nature. Some people can and some people can't.
Store-bought clay is terribly expensive. Children love to play with clay and make different things, but store-bought clay is a bit expensive, so let's see how to make it at home naturally.Store-bought clay has a little more chemicals in it, but homemade clay doesn't have any, so it's great for kids to play with. Not only that, it keeps our children very close to nature. Not only children but also adults can make many things that we love like pots, pans, crafts, jwelleries etc.
First, let's collect some soil from the backyard. After collecting it, we can filter it so that there are no large stones in it. After filtering the soil we can transfer it to a large container. After that we can pour three quarters of water and then mix it well. When soil and water are mixed together, we get the form of a muddy water. We filter this muddy water once, twice or thrice again with a cotton cloth until we get rid of all the small stones in it. The more times we filter, the finer the clay we get. The filtered water can be kept undisturbed for a day or two. When we look at it after a day, we can see two layers of mud and water. When it is like this, we can drain the water on top. After that take a cotton cloth and keep it in the sun. We can pour the filtered clay into this. After an hour in the sun, we can see the natural home made clay.
In this way we can make natural homemade clay. In today's society, people make many things with clay, which are very useful. Just like a business, it creates clay for people and sells them as well. The difference between the natural clay is that we put a little more on nature, but instead we get a lot of chemicals.
Modelling clay is used in art and handicraft for sculpting. Clays are used for making pottery, both utilitarian and decorative, and construction products, such as bricks, walls, and floor tiles. Different types of clay, when used with different minerals and firing conditions, are used to produce earthenware, stoneware, and porcelain.
