When Movies Give Something Beyond Just Entertainment!

What do you expect from a movie? Is it mere entertainment or something more? We are all aware that making a movie takes a lot of effort and hard work for months together. And we just watch it for 2 hours and give it a rating depending on how much it engaged us or entertained us.

I personally love those movies which give some social message in addition to entertainment. They make the audience think or change their perspectives. Here are some of those movies which I like the most. If you also love such social genre movies then you also might have already seen or would like to watch them.

Dil Chahta Hai

Dil Chahta Hai

This is an evergreen movie to watch. It tells us the philosophy of life while conveying how the best friendship should be.  Best friends never go apart mentally or emotionally even if they have fought in the past and have not met for a long time. The dialogues, cinematography, and acting are all extremely superb.

Three Idiots

3 Idiots

Yes, when the topic of friendship comes, how can we forget this amazing movie? While taking the audience in their nostalgic college days, it teaches us the very important lesson of life that we should always face every situation saying ‘ All is well ‘. It also explains what the meaning of a career should be. Instead of entering the rat race of marks and degrees, we should do what we love to do. A career does not mean only earning money. It means the satisfaction and joy that we get while doing our work.

Jindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

If you want to know the value of life, you must watch this movie. When we just run fast behind our goals and money, life passes just like sand through our fingers.  And when our last day of life comes in front of us we regret many things that we could not do because we were busy running behind other things. I love the poem that is recited by Farhan Akhtar in the end,

' Dilon me tum apni Betaabiyan leke chal rahe ho, Toh Zinda ho tum'

Dear Jindagi

Dear Jindagi

This is one more movie that tells us the philosophy of life and relationships. It's okay to fail, it's okay to not meeting any goal or expectation. People in life are compared with chairs. Which is the best fitting. The song ‘Love you Zindagi' is one of my favorites. Dialogues are amazing.

Don't let the past blackmail your present into ruining a beautiful future.

Oh My God!

Oh My God

Are you a God believer? or a non-believer? Whatever it is, you must watch this movie to know what does it mean to be a fully devotee or fully non-believer of God. This sensitive subject is handled very beautifully in this movie. What would GOD want from human beings he has created? God himself has to find his own signs on this earth when he sees people making a business out of his idols.

Well, there are still more such movies that will change your perspectives towards people, life, and situations. Will write about them in my next blog.

Stay tuned.

Happy reading! :-)
