When Animals Show Humanity More Than Humans

A few days back I came across one post on social media. An old-aged patient was hospitalized for treatment and none of her family or relatives came to see her. But one pigeon used to come over her bed, sit there for some time and then fly away. One nurse captured this pic on her camera and she came to know that the old patient used to feed that pigeon while strolling in a nearby park next to the hospital.

I don't know if it is true or fake, but this post really touched me. This pandemic has also uncovered various good and bad traits of people. But I really wonder how these animals and birds would have survived in this situation. In the earlier days when the pandemic arrived, people were leaving their pets on the streets! Whether it is out of fear or anything else, but it was surely not a symptom of humanity. And look at this innocent pigeon which did not have any relation with that old-aged patient but still, it remembered her favors of feeding the pigeon.

I personally don't like pets and don't have one at home, but I do believe in animals' emotional and sixth sense levels. These mute animals are aware of the favors done. And they do try to reciprocate with their unconditional love. I remember long back 15-17 years ago I and my two friends had gone on a vacation on a beach at Harihareshwar. There one dog was following us while we are walking towards the beach. My friend, Archana noticed that the dog was limping by one leg. She stopped and went towards him. And she saw a thorn in his leg. She gently pulled it out of his leg and applied some soil there. After that, the dog was with us everywhere we went. He was as if guarding us.

I have heard a story of how a dog saved a child's life from a snake by fighting with that snake. When someone in the owner's family dies, these pets don't take food. Even wild animals have their own rules they follow strictly. Tiger or lion don't enter each other's territory.

loyalty and love are becoming depleted qualities in humans. But animals have still their hearts filled with these emotions and feelings. People nowadays have become so selfish and self-centered that they don't think of others. Exceptions are always there but this is what kalyug is supposed to be.

But how could these mute and innocent creatures still cherish this unconditional love? This is an unanswered question for me.
