Is Being A Mother Only Restricted To Biological Mothers?

Today is Mother's day. All social media and WhatsApp are flooded with happy mother's day wishes. Yes, I too wished my mom. My mom is my best of best friends. I can share anything and everything with her. She has been my idol. I could get through all my problems and adversities because of her strong support and of course my dad's support too.

There is something amazing about these blood relations of parents and children. The bonding of love comes naturally. Be it humans or even animals. But still, I think a mother's love is not restricted to only a biological mother. Love is something that cannot be explained through words. It can only be experienced. Otherwise, how could Mother Teresa be honored of being a mother of the world? There are so many women who have not given birth to a child but still can shower their love on many orphan kids or even relatives' children.  Nothing on this earth can compare to the unconditional love of a mother.

Motherhood is considered the completeness of a woman. But what about those unfortunate women who cannot give birth to a child? Does it mean they cannot be good mothers? Can't they give love to other children?

In today's world with advanced technology, IVF, surrogate mother,  and adoption can be options to be a mother. Many women have opted for being single mother. And many couples have preferred adopting a child. One of my friends and her husband have adopted two siblings and are living so happily as if they are their real parents! Their family looks so complete! After all, love doesn't know any boundaries of cast and creed.

Yashoda and Devaki were both mothers of Krishna. Can we compare them to who is a perfect mother? Motherhood is an inbuilt instinct of every woman. It doesn't need any proof of actually giving birth to child.

Do you know there have been real stories of animals that have raised human children in their territories? What do you think might have been the motive to raise children of altogether different species? It's only love and nothing else. Even this planet earth or nature are called as mother earth or mother nature.

So, moral of the story is, mother's day is not only for biological mothers. It is for every woman who has showered her love on all children. Let's wish this mother's day to all those mothers!
