Hi Friends, Here I am to finally start writing again after a long, long break of 3 months! It is really painful for a writer to not getting to write. I was so stuck up with the other stuff that I really couldn’t write a word. Is this what is called Writer’s block? My God! It is so horrible. I would sit and think of a subject or topic but could not really come up with any good one. And then I gave up on it. Many things happened in between. But then I decided not to waste my time anymore and just throw the frustration out of my mind.
I am not sure if anyone of you as bloggers has faced such a situation. But I pray that no writer should face this block. I feel so guilty for such a long gap in writing. As a writer, you must write every day. No matter what. I have left my IT career and have deliberately chosen to be a writer as writing is my passion. I feel that satisfaction and joy when I speak my heart out and express my feelings. Still, many people wonder why I left such a good-paying job for writing. But I also have many supporters who encourage me to pursue my hobby as a career option. So, now I will follow my dream and continue writing.
Meanwhile, I attended an online workshop for content writers, and there the speaker mentioned this writer’s block and I decided to come out of it. I read some blogs and now have started to implement some tips to overcome writer’s block.
The very first thing you can do to come out of writer’s block is to start writing. It sounds that simple. But believe me; it is really hard when you are writing after a long gap. But you have to stop procrastinating and just start writing. Otherwise, you will never find a way out.
Yes, you need to decide your daily schedule set aside for writing and stick to that. This will help you to develop discipline and also avoid writer’s block. I have now fixed my time 3 hours a day for writing. Word count does not matter. You might only spend time thinking, researching, and then write only one or two lines in three hours. But that’s absolutely okay. What matters is you have utilized your three hours for writing.
The way you do exercises for your physical health, you also should do writing exercises to expand your writing. There are many sites you can Google to help you with writing exercises. Whether you are writing fiction or nonfiction, you will get some nice ideas to give your writing an expansion.
Many writers have their own places where they find comfort in writing. It may be an office cabin, study room, or a café or bedroom. Whatever place you decide, have it clean and have all your writing stuff accessible. My comfortable place is my bedroom and has a radio playing in the background. J
And once you are in the flow, start planning your writing. Whether it is a fiction story or a film, write the story outline and define characters. Thus, you will finish with your assignment by planning daily writing goals. For example, write story outline today and then write characters the next day, then story flow and then dialogues and so on. You will find it so easy once you are organized.
So, that’s all my friends. I am feeling so happy I poured out what I learned from my block. I just wish neither me nor you should come across this block.
Happy writing and reading! :)
