Today I'll be sharing the rest of the best places to visit in Ladakh.
Tso Moriri lake, known to be the largest alpine lake in India, is in the greater Himalayan region. This small but surreal part of mother nature is not less than a treat for people who are peace-lovers as it is visited by less tourists due to its high altitude. Its a perfect destination to spend time with friends and family clicking pictures, relishing breathtaking sunrises while camping in nearby village Korzok. Summer is the best time to visit this lake as you can get to see rare species of bird and some native wild animals in the nearby forest.
Formed by the meeting of Nubra river and Shyok river , this valley separates Ladakh from the Karakoram Ranges. Nubra valley shows a splendid mixture of harsh mountains, sparkling river and white sand dunes. It is also famous for two humps bactrian camel rides. Diskit village located on the banks of Shyok river is famous for its Diskit Monastery, a popular attraction in Ladakh. Travelling over Khardung la pass to reach here is most convenient.
Located in the cornermost region of Ladakh, this valley still manages to attract lots of tourist every year. This valley is home to finest monasteries like Bardan and Phugtal Monastery. Besides being famous for Rock climbing, trekking and camping, this valley is also popular or river rafting during summers. Trekkers headed for Chadar Trek have to cross the famous Frozen Zanskar river. Hiring a jeep or catching a bus from Kargil is convenient way to reach this valley.
Exemplifying the rich cultural heritage of Ladakh, Hemis Monastery attracts a large number of tourist from all across the world. Various gold-plated stupas and Lord buddha's statues are the major attraction. It is famous for holding the annual Hemis Festival in the honor of Lord Padmasambhava in the month of June. This festival is celebrated to thank their deity for giving them spiritual strength and good health. It is one of the most visited tourist place in Ladakh.
Also known as Lhachen Palkhar, this royal palace of Leh is located on the Tsemo Hill. This 9- storied structure is now managed by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and has a museum showcasing royal belongings. In spite of being a bit ruined, this palace offers you a splendid view of the whole Leh town from the top. Beautifully constructed in the 17th century during Namgyal dynasty, Leh Palace is also one of the noted tourist attraction.
