Brush Your Teeth The Right Way

We brush our teeth daily and take it for granted without understanding that brushing our teeth is essential for our wellbeing.

Before we brush our teeth the right way, we need to be aware of the reasons why brushing teeth is essential:

The fear of going to the dentist is something that we all suffer from, the best way to avoid this is to not just brush our teeth but also follow a proper diet and avoid food that causes tooth decay.

Studies have shown that there are many types of bacteria that have an adverse effect on our teeth as they are responsible for gum disease, damaging the teeth enamel and causing infections that can make it difficult to eat your food in a normal manner.

This brings us to the question, are we brushing our teeth correctly?

Here are some ways we can keep our teeth healthy:

  1. When we brush our teeth, if we do it incorrectly then we are wasting our time and doing more harm than good to maintaining our teeth, to avoid this we need to use the right type of toothbrush preferably from a well known brand, it must contain soft or medium bristles so that it does not cause damage to the teeth.
  2. We need to be careful with the amount of toothpaste that we use, it should not be too much or too less, otherwise it defeats the purpose of keeping your teeth clean.
  3. Sometimes when we are in a hurry, we try to finish brushing our teeth as soon as possible, this is useless because you are not giving yourself enough time to keep your teeth clean and fresh.
  4. When brushing our teeth, we need to move in a circular way because this helps to reach out and clean all our teeth properly.
  5. Brushing teeth is not just about the outer parts of our teeth, we need to brush the inner sides of our teeth and make sure that they are also kept clean.
  6. Avoid brushing your teeth too hard, this will cause a loss of teeth enamel and it may lead to bleeding gums.

Now that we have learnt some of that we can brush our teeth correctly, here are some rules that we need to follow to avoid visiting the dentist:

A) When we eat food, the food particles get stuck in our teeth, this causes, cavities, plaque, gum disease and loose teeth, brushing teeth at least twice a day before and after meals can help protect your teeth.

B) Although there is no time limit for brushing our teeth, it helps to avoid being too fast while brushing your teeth, spending at least 3 minutes to brush your teeth is a reasonable amount of time.

C) We have a lot of online information that we can check, do some research and select the right toothbrush and toothpaste that will help in keeping your teeth healthy.

D) It helps to change your toothbrush regularly, a toothbrush with broken and bent bristles is not going to keep your teeth clean.

The best way to be confident and reward yourself is to brush your teeth the right way and not being afraid to smile because of neglecting to take good care of your teeth.
