On 11 May 2021 my mother suddenly got fever and we rushed to get her COVID test done and unfortunately she tested positive for COVID. That was the time we were still grieving and were in great shock about death of our grandmother due to coronavirus ,she left us for her heavenly abode on 4 May 2021.
We immediately isolated mom in a separate room.It was a tough time for us as the CT value (which is cycle threshold value) was 13 which means that virus was found early during the RT-pcr test and we started looking for possibilities to admit her in hospital but hospitals were completely occupied at that time as second wave was at its peak.We did not wanted to take a chance but after online consultation doctors recommended us not to panic and treat her at home as home isolation was considered the best option until and unless the oxygen level falls below the normal mark.
Now being the only girl of family the complete responsibility came on my shoulders of taking care of everyone at home but I must say my father and brother have been a great helping hand to me,my father used to get up early in the morning even before I did and took care of mom,the first thing that we did early in the morning for first few days of week was to get her temperature checked and we too maintained a diary and noted readings for oxygen and pulse after every two hours. My father used to keep mom engaged throughout the day by sending her videos on whstapp it could be anything of her interest be a comedy show or something religious or exercises to do during covid. Those 14 days of isolation felt easy with his positive attitude ,he used to call her and give her support with little gestures and ensured her that she will be okay soon.
That time I realised problems do arise in everyone's life but one should deal it with a positive attitude. There are often times of adversities but one should stand together as a family.
Life is so uncertain that is why I would request all of you to take care of your family members talk to your near and dear ones and spread love everywhere. Also our fight is still not over, wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
Stay safe! Stay healthy
