Yes, I named her, 'GIRL'. Well, the backstory to choose this uncommon name was most random one. As I didn't really give it a thought of getting to know its gender until my brother asked me ‘is it a she or he?’ and that's when I came up with the name as it was a she.
Its been a year since she came into my life or lets say, has ‘become a part of my life’. It was the time of complete lockdown, many were affected by this pandemic. Meanwhile, the lockdown was also taking a heavy toll on stray animals. Many died due to starvation, they had nothing on the roads or streets to survive as people were in isolation. It was then, I started feeding a few stray dogs from my lane, taking their responsibility.
Few months later, a new one joined in the pack. It was a brown fur one with beautiful russet brown eyes. Not to sound cheesy, but there was something different about her eyes, I felt warmth and happiness inside of me and I had this wide smile on my face whenever I meet her. If only dogs could talk and tell us how much we mean to them but, they have their own ways of expressing love. For instance, a wagging tail would mean she's having fun and also very much excited, if her tongue is hanging out, she's feeling chill. Some dogs stare and it's the sign that she need attention.
I talk a lot to her, telling about how my day went, sharing my problems. Although conversations are one sided and it looks weird for some, but its normal to communicate with dogs. Talking is a way for us to put our problems out in the open also its a lot of fun and will strengthen our bond between the two. Simply talking a bit out loud to a non-judgemental audience is helpful too.
The love-hate relation she has with my mom caused by occasionally peeing in the house, chewing on shoes, ergo, my mom getting exasperated by her behavior is pure bliss. Though, many find no problem to feed human biscuits for dogs but as there are too much calories and sugar in most of our food which dogs cant handle and can lead to organ failure and early death. So, its better to go with some milk, yoghurt etc.
INDIAN PARIAH DOG, a indian native dog. Numbers of these dogs are surging while people are preferring pure breeds. These are much more suitable for indian climate than others also are low maintenance, street smart and can take care of themselves when left alone too. Being impartial is most needed right now as we shouldn't turn our backs on our own. “ALL THEY NEED IS SOME LOVE”.
