Do you think ghee is healthy? Well. Not all the ghee. Do u buy ghee from store? Do you know Your store bought ghee may contain unhealthy animal fat? Ever since I heard of this, I started making ghee at home. Because I add a spoon of ghee with my kids' food regularly and I don't wanna compromise on their health.
Let me share how I do it… believe me It's an easy peasy process.
Boil full cream milk or fresh cow's milk.
Let it cool down under the room temperature. After some time, you will see a layer of malai on top surface of the milk.
Take it slowly with your index and thumb finger and save it in a bowl and keep it in the freezer. Do it everyday until you get a bowl full of malai.
Once the bowl is full, transfer it to a mixer jar and add two bowls of water preferably cold water and grind it in high speed. Opeen the jar and you will see cloud like butter floating on the top. Collect them and transfer it to a bowl. Discard all the excess water after removing all the butter carefully using your hands.
Transfer the butter to a pan and keep the pan on the stove and heat the butter. Keep the flame low and keep mixing the butter with a spoon. Or else all the milk particles will start sticking to the pan Once you get a clear ,yellowish and oil like substance, add a few sprigs of fresh and clean drumstick leaves and let them splutter. Turn off the stove after a few seconds. Don't fry the leaves too much.
By this time, a nice aroma will surround your house. You can also add a small piece of pan leaf and a small piece of clean brick along with drumstick leaves for better aroma.
Filter the ghee and store it in a jar. The ghee will become thick and grainy in a few days. Fresh home made healthy and aromatic ghee is ready to be consumed. Ghee contains good fat which is essential for our body. Consume one spoon of ghee along with hot rice or dosa everyday for good digestion.
