Have you ever been to mini London of India. Yes!  You heard it right India has its own London, this incredibly awesome place is known as "McCluskieganj, a small hilly town in Jharkhand state; about 64 km north -west of the capital, Ranchi, in khalari block of Ranchi district. This town was a vision of an Anglo -Canadian businessman Ernest Timothy Malkusky. Located at an altitude of 450 metre, McCluskieganj has a subtropical humid climate. The days are warm and evenings are cool. Even during summer, the temperature seldom crosses the bar of 37 degree centigrade.

Let us revisit history to get a clear picture of the origin of this  town .Malkusky was a property dealer based in Kolkata. His father was Irish and worked in Railways, while he was in Varanasi he fell in love with a Brahman girl. Despite facing backlash from the society they got married. Back then government denied any support to Anglo Indians.Disappointed by this ,Malkusky always had a desire to  do something for his Anglo -Indian Community. During his work, he used to visit some village in the area for hunting. One day he visited this area in jharkhand, mesmerized by its lush green fields and evergreen vegetation he decided to settle his community there. He leased out the land from Shahansha and sent circulars to two thousand Anglo Indians in India to settle there. Soon some Three hundred sixty five bungalows were built just as they were built in England.People living here spoke in English and followed western traditions thus making it resemble with London.Back then this town drew great attention as it was different from what we imagined a village to be. a But after Independence the richness of this place faded away, lack of job opportunities forced many Anglo -Indians out of this place. Today, roughly three, four Anglo Indian families are left in this place, living in poverty. They have limited ways to earn their income, some are rickshaw pullers, some are farmers.

Though this place might be abandoned due to lack of opportunities, this place is enveloped  with rich nature. Today most of the mansions have been converted to guest houses for tourists. The presence of mosque, gurudwara, temple at one place makes it even more beautiful and makes it a must visit place . Nearby attractions include sita falls, Hundru falls, amreshwar dham, Dassam Ghagh falls.

Do comment and tell me were you aware of this amazingly beautiful  place.
