Unique But Strange Rituals Followed Around Different Parts Of The World:
- Monkey Buffet: There's a city in central Thailand known as lopburi city which celebrates the last Sunday of November very uniquely. A crowd of monkeys along with people relish the mouthwatering food. Humans wear colourful monkey costumes in order to lure the monkeys. In the year 1989 lopburi's base hotel's owner started a fair named Monkey buffet festival backed by the tourism authority to celebrate and pay homage to our ancestral cousins. Monkeys are invited in a unique way to attend this mass fun gathering. A week before the start of this festival monkeys are given a invitation that too with cashew nuts attached to them . For the main event people here wear monkey costumes and dance to attract monkeys. Since this festival is thirty three years old, around three thousand long tailed monkeys leave the jungle and come to the event ground. Apart from local dishes and delicacies even drinks are served here. Ten thousand tourists make their way to this festival each year. This festival greatly boosts the tourism sector of Thailand.
- Bullet and gloves ritual, Brazil: Satere - Mawre tribe is one of the oldest and indigenous Tribes located in the mid Amazon river in the Brazil. Apart from many other things this community is widely known for their rite of passage ceremony that is held for coming of age of boys. In this ritual young boys who want to be respected as an adult man or want to become a warrior they have to put their hands in gloves filled with bullet ants and this is true definition of no pain, no gain. Any young man who wants to become a warrior in this tribe must go through this process in order to prove his strength and capabilities. They have prove whether they are strong enough to be able to withhold that position. Their ability to become a warrior is measured by their capacity to endure pain. First of all if any young man wants to participate in this ritual their first task will be to go to the Jungle along with medicine expert and their tribe member and collect the whole bunch of bullet ants for the ritual. A bite from a bullet ant feels like you have been stung by a bee thirty times and to beat all of that, the young boy has to have his hand inserted in the gloves for over ten minutes.
