Mariana Trench is the deepest part of the ocean located east of Phillipines. It is approximately 2550 KM long and 69 KM wide. It holds the deepest known location on the Earth, the Challenger deep and the hadel zone. Mariana Trench has only been visited by three human beings till date.

The pressure at the bottom of the Mariana Trench is 1086 bars per square inch which is thousand times the standard atmospheric pressure . At this intense pressure   survival of any life form seems impossible . The temperature at the bottom of Mariana Trench is very cold varying between one degree and four degree Celsius.The floor of the trench is comprised mainly of crushed shells and the corpses of sea animals.It has limited to no oxygen .

 This inhospitable conditions should have made existence of   life forms of any kind practically implausible. But Mariana Trench is home to  bizarre deep sea creatures , the creatures never seen before.  The wildest creature , goblin shark has weirdest number of teeth ranging between thirty one to sixty rows of lower teeth and thirty five to fifty three rows of upper teeth. Goblin sharks are slow moving predator and track their prey using smell, sight and electro perception. Another on the list is extremely rare , zombie worm; these creepy looking creatures eat the bones of whales and other fish by secreting acid in order to dissolve the bone . the next on the list is a kind of fish who resembles a Chinese dragon ; this freocious predator is called deep sea dragon fish and is about six inches long. Other creatures are barrel eye fish, angler fish , a kind of jellyfish which allegedly looks like an alien from another planet.

The hadel zone  infamously known as gate to hell is the deepest part of the Ocean . Two sampling expedition to hadel zone contributed about it's biological composition. At the beginning of the studies it was reputed for it's inability to support any kind of life owing to  unfavorable conditions. It has limited to no oxygen , very high pressure and low temperature . But recent studies proved that it is home to an important biodiversity and abundance of animals.

Mariana Trench is also home to several under sea volcanoes and contains nine volcanic islands and more than sixty submarine volcanoes. Today we know more about moon and space than Mariana Trench , all these knowledge about Mariana Trench is equivalent to the “ tip of an iceberg” a lot more is still undiscovered .
