Imagine a town where there is no religion, no racism, everyone is treated equally and earns the same salary (rupees 12000) whether one is a doctor, engineer, craftsperson,designer,sweeper anything. It is a cashless society with zero crime rates .

So let me introduce u to this amazing town Auroville, also known as experimental township locates in viluppuram district, in the state of Tamil Nadu with some parts in the Union territory of Puducherry in India.. Yes u read it write this incredibly beautiful town is in india.. It was visionary idea of a French lady,  Mirra Alfassa and Shri Aurobindo Ghosh. This town was designed by architect Roger Anger. 

Mother Alfassa on innaugration day led forward her visions through these lines :

“Auroville wants to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realize humanity. ”

Prior to 1980,Sri Aurobindo Ghosh legally owned all the city's assests. But after Mira Alfassa death in 1973 ,the government of India passed the Auroville Provision Act 1980 ,under which government of India took over the city 's management. 

Now people might be wondering how it functions economically??. Some money comes from government of India mostly for education and projects covered under “Aurovillean Development Scheme ” .Auroville is also funded by NGO's and other organizations of India and abroad such as UNESCO and UNICEF. On their part, they make money through tourism ,small and large scale Bussiness .

The thing  which I liked the most about Aurovillean was their idea towards life. They have pizza nights,dance party,hippie market  they play games all day and they make art, medidate.They are busy doing organic farming,afforestation.They idealise sustainable development. That doesn't mean they don't study. Aim of education outside is completion of syllabus prescribed by the centre but in auroville student is kept at centre and understanding the child and his or her capacity and what domain of child has to be developed is their main priority. 

The next thing which attracted by attention was their famous matrimandir. Matrimandir is in the middle of town and was conceived by Mother Alfassa “a symbol of the divine answer to man's aspiration for perfection ”.Matrimandir is in the form of huge sphere surrounded by twelve petals .it is the soul of the city. It took 37 years to build matrimandir.Its open only to medidate there are no incense stick, no candles, no idols.

Beside this, if u happen to be around this beautiful place, other place of interest includes Sound garden, Sadhan forest, Auroville visit center, Red Earth riding school, Auroville Botanical garden, Pitchandi khulam forest to name a few.
