Hello bloggers, welcome back to my other weekly blog friends in this I am going to talk about Mallakhamba which is the oldest form of gymnastics in which players perform dangerous stunts using a pole or rope. Basically, the word Mallakhamba is derived from two different words Malla meaning the wrestler and Khamba defines the pole on which all the stunts are performed the ancient game has three types these Pole, Rope, and Hanging.

The Mallakhamba is not only a form of gymnastics it is considered one of the most difficult games as it requires lots of flexibility and physical strength in the body.

In the game, the pole is smeared with castor oil that is made of teak wood or Sheesham fixed in the ground and the participants perform various stunts and possess on it. The performance in this is hugely dependent on stamina, grip, and strength in arms and upper body the combination of all these make up a good Mallakhamba player

Not only the participants the other thing which plays an equally important role in the game is the pole which is made of strong wood whose circumference is 55 m at the base and 35 m from the top.

According to beliefs, it is the state of Haryana that has spread the sport all over the country it is swami Devrath Acharya who is credited for the spread of the game in the state, in fact, this is the one who works as a promoter to this sport
As this sport has a key impact not only on the body but the mind too as it required not just flexibility but on the mind too.

It was the year 1963 when this sport was launched in Haryana and produced a number of players who really achieved mastery of in-game

Looking at its popularity it has also been declared a state game of Madhya Pradesh

This is going to be the last part of the blog in which I am going to talk a little about the origin of this game

The sport is belonging to the Chalukya kings of the 12th century many times  during the war soldiers climb the wall and perform Malakhamba poses but the sport did not get any recognition

Due to the efforts of enthusiastic players like Bamshankar Joshi and others  who set up a Malkhamba Foundation of India after which the sport got  recognition at the national as well as international level
