1 The word Navratri is derived from two words Nav means and Ratri means Night so it is also known as the festival of Nine nights
2 Navaratri is a festival that comes five times a year these are five times in a year these are December/January January/February March/ April September/October also known as Sharad Navaratri and it is widely celebrated
3 Many accept that Navratri is praised to recollect the victory of Goddess Durga over the evil spirit Mahishasura. Goddess Durga was made by the Divine beings to end the horrible outrages of the evil presences. Mahishasura and Goddess Durga battled for nine days and nine evenings lastly, on the 10th day, Goddess Durga arose successfully by killing the bison-headed evil presence of Mahishasura.
4 According to a belief that Mahisasura was buffalo headed so in many parts of the country animals are sacrificed to celebrate the victory
5 There are also stories related to Lord Shri Ram in the mythology of Navratri. It is said that at the time when Lord Shri Ram was fighting a war to free Mother Sita from the clutches of Ravana. At that time, Lord Shri Ram performed the ritual of Goddess Durga to win over Ravana. This puja ritual lasted for a full 9 days
6 In South India people worship their livelihood and things related to their profession popularly known as Ayudha Puja thing such as computers, books also being worshipped this day
7 The dates on which Navratri falls every year are set according to the Hindu lunar schedule. The celebration customarily begins on Pratipada, which is the main day of the lunar month of Ashwin that falls in September or October.
8 In many pieces of North and West India, Navratri is praised with the famous occasion of RAM LEELA (sensational people establishment of Ruler Rama's life) and it finishes in Dussehra when gigantic representations of Ravana are singed.
9 According to legends Goddess Durga was granted a period of Nine days by God to meet her mother so according to belief is Navaratri the day when Goddess meets her mother
10 During the Navratri season, Hindus develop the Jaw plant. Being an image of Goddess Durga is said. Additionally, it is supposed to be the main yield to be developed on The planet. The Jaw plant is viewed as an image of Goddess Durga.
