Hello everyone I welcome you all to my new blog .
Today in this blog I would like to share a few words about the importance of May 12,international nurses day. I personally have a deep connection with the nursing field, you know why because my mother is a nurse and everyday i see how much she is passionate about this field.Nursing is a profession which needs a lot of care.Nurse holds a life in her hands.Being a Nurse is not that easy it needs a lot of sacrifice ,it needs a lot of passion, a deep connection, care, patience, love and a lot more.Every Nurse's day we have a theme and this year theme is
"nurses a voice to lead- investing nursing and respect rights to secure Global Health".
So do you know why we celebrate nurses day on 12th May?
what is it with 12th May?
why not some other day?
oh ! you got it right!
12th May is the anniversary of Florence nightingale's birth. Actually it's not a single day celebration it's a week full of celebrations. International nurses week is celebrated from may 6 to May 12. we start the celebrations from May 6 to raise Awareness of the important role nurses play in our society.
so as I previously told you that I have a deep connection with the nursing feel because my mother is a nurse. I used to hear from my grandmother that my mother was very dedicated to her profession, When I Was Born my mother was given a 3 month maternity leave but she was too into her profession that she only took a month leave and she was off to work the next month. Exactly a year back we were suffering from the extremely deadly COVID-19 virus .A time when we all were worried about our health and life.we all were tensed. we all were afraid but we also had a hope that our medical care professionals will get us out of this deadly virus effect. it happened just the way we hoped.our doctors and other medical care professionals especially our nurses helped us to get better.they taught us to fight against COVID-19 . They started working every day and night to eradicate this deadly virus from our planet.
Nurses worked 24/7 for us and today is the day we should make them feel special.
Wish every nurse you know!
wish every nursing student you know!
make today a special day for them!
make them feel special!
. So now I'm thinking about sharing a little about Florence Nightingale .
Florence Nightingale was born on May 12th,1820.In those days, young ladies weren't supposed to have a well-rounded schooling.
Nonetheless, her Father thought it was significant thus she was very accomplished.
He was the person who showed her subjects like English, Maths and Science.she was known as the lady with the lamp.
why was she called that? and
why is her birthday celebrated as International nurses day ?
its because she was a very dedicated nurse who used to work during the Crimean war .Florence worked in London in the mid 1850s, yet in 1854, the British Secretary of War requested that she coordinate a nursing corps to serve the injured fighters in Crimea. The area was the focal point of a conflict among Russia and a collusion of England, France, Sardinia and Turkey. At that point, there were no ladies filling in as nurses in the clinics in Crimea, however that changed when Florence showed up with her recently framed gathering of nurses, the medical caretakers.
Her epithet is "Woman with the Lamp." When Florence Nightingale showed up with a group of medical caretakers at a British field clinic during the Crimean War, the harmed officers were nearly overpowered with appreciation for the consideration they got. She was known for watching the medical clinic wards around evening time with her lamp. Some additionally referred to her as "the Angel of Crimea."
Florence Nightingale original name was Nightingale.Florence was the place where she was born. With her passion and dedication to caring the needy she even owned the name of the place where she was born.eventually she came to be known as Florence Nightingale.
she was born to William Nightingale and Francis Nightingale .she is even known as "the founder of modern nursing". in 1860 she laid the foundation of a professional nursing Institute with establishment of her Nursing School at Saint Thomas hospital which is in London. This hospital was the first secular Nursing School in the world.Sovereign Victoria granted the Royal Red Cross Medal to Florence in 1883.
She was the main individual to at any point be granted this! in honour to Florence Nightingale "The Nightingale pledge" is taken by new nurses and the "Florence Nightingale medal" which is the highest International distinction a nurse can achieve this was also named in an honor and international nurses day is celebrated on a birthday. Nightingale was a liberal humanitarian.
"the very first requirement in a hospital is that it should do the sick no harm"
-Florence Nightingale
She was a person with the thirst for knowledge, she used to say that
"let us never consider ourselves finish nurses...
we must be learning all our lives"
and she also used to say that
" the most important practical lesson that can be given to nurses is to teach them what to observe."
she was a person with a clear knowledge with a clear understanding, love ,passion and everything in all.
a few days ago I came across a quote about modern nurses.
"Nurse is Just Another word to describe
a person strong enough tolerate everything
and
soft enough to understand everyone"
isn't it true?
yes it is true .
nurses are the angels with no wings
"when you are a nurse you know that everyday you will touch a life or a life will touch yours".
Every house needs a strong base and nurses are the base of a hospital.
This blog is a small dedication to you Amma.A blog from a proud daughter of a nurse.
A very happy Nurse's day to all the nurses out there especially mine.
