World Of Animals- A View πͺπ
There are different types of animal in the world. Some live on land, some live in water, some live under the ground while some can fly in the the air.
Types Of Animals:
On the basis of presence or absence of a backbone, animals are of two types. Animals without a backbone are called Invertebrates. Insects and worms are examples of invertebrates. Animals with a backbone are called vertebrates. Fish, amphibians, birds, and mammals are examples of vertebrates.
- Insects- insects are a group of animals with six legs. Most insects have a hard outer covering. And insect's body is divided into two three parts- head, thorax and abdomen. Cockroaches and ants are some example.
- Fish- fish are are a group of of animals that live in water. They breathe with the the help of gills. Goldfish and shark are example of fish.
- Amphibians- they are a group of animals that live both on land and in water. Amphibians breathe through lungs when on land and through moist skin when in in water. Amphibians reproduce by laying eggs in water. Frogs and salamander are some example.
- Reptiles- reptiles are animals that mainly live on land. They have dry and scaly skin. They reproduce by laying eggs on land. Snakes, crocodile are some example.
- Birds- birds are a group of animals that have a light body covered with feathers. Birds have wings to fly. They reproduce by laying eggs. Most birds can fly. Sparrow, parrot, peacock are some example.
- Mammals- mammals are animals that reproduce by giving birth to to young ones. human beings breathe through their nose. From the nose, air is carried to the lungs. Most mammals have four limbs. The two front limbs are called as Forelimbs and back limbs are called Hindlimbs.
Different Features in Animals:
- The body of a bear is covered with FUR, to keep it warm.
- Bodies of birds are covered with FEATHERS, which help them to keep them warm.
- The body of a snake is covered with SCALES.
- Beetles have a hard outer covering called CUTICLE that protects the soft body.
- The body of a fish is covered with SCALES.
- Tortoise and snails have a SHELL to protect their soft and delicate bodies.
- The crocodile has thick, plate- like SCALES.
Eating Habits of Animals:
- Herbivores- animals that eat only plants or plant products are called herbivorous. These animal have Sharp teeth to bite off leaves and grass. Cows and goats are some example. Rats and squirrels have sharp front teeth.
- Carnivorous- animals that eat the the flash of other animals are called carnivorous. These animal have sharp and pointed teeth to tear off the flesh of their prey. Their sharp claws also help them in tearing off the flesh. Tigers, lions and snakes are some example. Snakes do not have teeth, they swallow their prey as a whole.
- Omnivorous- animals that eat plant as well as flesh of other animals are called omnivorous. Human beings and bears are some example.
