When we discuss about ghosts or demons; vampire, Satan, haunted dolls, haunted house pictures is comes in our mind. If we notice, we know about those through Western movie's, but if we take a look in Indian Ghosts or legends, we found that only few people know about this. So in this blog we discuss about a scariest Indian ghost or Urban Legend, which is known as Acheri.

In the Northern regions of India, specially in the hilli areas, there are many Ghosts, about which only local people know, or you never found anything about these ghosts or urban legends in the book.

Acheri is one of them who mostly trapped her victims by getting a little girl form. According to some legends; torched, or abused, or murdered girls soul, became Acheri after death. And mostly they are founded in the hilli areas. In night Acheri walk downward of the mountain & sang songs in his sad voice, which is echoing in the mountains. The people of hilli area treat Acheri song or voice as a bad sign, they believe Acheri's song is a warning of dangerous illness. Acheri is also known as the bringer of death & illnesses for kid's and old aged people's. Acheri's looks like a skeleton, because before death they are so hungry and torched, but her red Demonic eyes & long finger nails looks so scariest. People say's Acheri have shape shifting ability, in simple words she can change his avatar or body in any form, and through this she easily trapped her victims. The People's who live in mountain, they had a popular custom for escaping to Acheri's trap. The People's use any kinds of red object like red clothes, red tabij, red ribbons etc. And the kids of mountain regions must wear a red ribbon, or red tabij in their hands. By which or which cause Acheri never attack on them.

Like this many interesting legends are exist in the Northern part of India, but about them only few people know, or the people's of local region's know & they told about this in the form of stories to her next generation.

Like this some ghosts disturb or haunt cattles and the local people (mountain people's). One is Runnia; people believe Runnia is responsible for land's slipes in the mountain areas.

Ghoul is another one. Ghoul is a creature or demon, who found in the grave yards, where they eat dead bodies. Ghoul also have shape shifting abilities, if you notice the origin of ghoul, then you find Arabic forclure. But in the Northern part of India, there is a ghost like ghoul, who known as chalaba.
