On the day of Ram Navami, the family should take a vow of bathing etc. by wearing clean clothes. An idol or a picture of Ramji's childhood can also be kept at the place of worship. The latter should be anointed with Ganga water. Worship should be done with roli, sandalwood, rice, incense, ashtagandha, flowers etc. Fruits and home-made sweets or dishes should be offered to them and sacrificed. Recite Ramarakshastotra and at the end Ramji's Aarti should be done. At the moment of birth, his idol is hung in the cradle for some time. Prasad should be distributed among the people after the completion of pooja. One should fast by eating fruits.
