35,000 raucous spectators celebrated Chennai Super Kings and MS Dhoni's spectacular return in style as the entertaining game came to a finish.  The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings CSK defeated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by a score of 218 runs after their skipper KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl first in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Chepauk on Monday.

The game's thrilling conclusion saw Chennai Super Kings defeat Lucknow Super Giants by 12 runs. Kyle Mayers and Nicholas Pooran made significant efforts, but they weren't enough. In a match with a huge run total, Moeen Ali stood out as the top performance, taking 4 wickets while only conceding 26 runs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway get off to a great start, Ambati Rayudu and captain MS Dhoni entertain a raucous Chepauk crowd, and the Chennai Super Kings take on mammoths 217/7 in the sixth leg of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). The Lucknow Super Giants scored.

Both Gaikwad (57) and Conway (47) were power plays and he played some outstanding shots breaking 79 runs. It became CSK's best power play his score at Chepauk, breaking his previous high of 75.

Despite scoring a season-high 217 goals, the Super Kings were outclassed on the powerplay. By breaking the IPL record set at Chepauk, Lucknow Super Giants put themselves in a great position at 80 for 1.
On a surface where dew, which KL Rahul thought would play a part in the chase, rarely had an impact, Dhoni returned to his usual "spin it to win it" credo once Moeen Ali had given them the early breakthrough.

Moeen and Mitch Santner, a dynamic spin team for the Super Kings, magically turned the game around with 5 for 46 off eight overs. KL Rahul, Kyle Mayers, and Marcus Stoinis were among Moeen's victims as he finished with 4 for 26 despite not being required to bowl in their tournament opener. The Moeen impact disguised the seamers' nightmare start, especially for Impact Players Tushar Deshpande and Deepak Chahar, who between them let up 55 runs in four wicketless overs inside the opening 10 overs.

But Deshpande redeemed himself with a knockout blow of Nicholas Pooran, who threatened to pull off a coup, with Super Giants needing 62 off 25. That, right there, was the game which Super Kings closed out to eventually win by 12 runs to pocket two points. However, LSG kept losing wickets at regular intervals, and that proved to be their undoing. Moeen Ali starred with the ball picking up four wickets as Chennai Super Kings defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 12 runs.
