It is the story of the great Cholas and the Pandyas. It is a short romantic novel of prince Sukumaran and Bhuvanamohini's Love.

The King Uttama Chola ruled the Chola Empire. He had sons, Adithan and Sukumaran. Sukumaran is the Crown Prince. Adithan is his brother. During their period their The Chola Kingdom was  a small state with only a few cities around Tanjore. However it was an ancient village with ancestral pride.

During the same period, King Parakirama Pandian ruled Pandia Nadu, a great kingdom from Kumari to Tiruchirappalli. He had only one daughter named Bhuvanamohini. Parakirama Pandyan didn't from the ancient Pandyan dynasty. So, he decided to marry her daughter with Uttama Chola's son. He visited Tanjore King and told his intention but The King Uttama Chola despised his clan and taunted that his daughter was only fit to be a servant in Chola Kingdom. 

Then Pandyan was insulted by Uttama chola. So in anger he invaded the Chola Kingdom. The princes escaped from there and hid in kollimalai forest. Pandyan captured Uttama Chola to his chariot and dragged him in a procession.Bhuvana Mohini was upset by her father's behaviour. Later Prince Sukumaran decided to come to Madurai to save Uttama Chola. There he joined the temple sculptor Devendra as a student. He introduced himself as “Mathivaanan”. 

Mohini was very close to Sculptor Devendra and his art. Both Sukumaran and Bhuvanamohini hide their true identities and disguise as student. Sukumaran mesmerized the sculptors which were placed in Temples and Mandapams. He already knew some interior work as a sculptor, so he was easily attached with his Guru Devendran. When Mohini met Devendra, he was exaggerating Sukumaran's work. Bhuvanamohini thought of meeting Sukumaran but he didn't accept to meet her. So she planned to disguise herself as a Man(Kovindan) and meet him. Soon they became friends.

One day, Sukumaran discovered her disguise and he fedup of her. He lied to her that he wanted to learn the trick of making copper idols from Uttama Chola. Mohini also believed him and gave a signet ring to meet Chola for a night from prison.He invaded pandyan country, but he stopped the war when the mighty Pandyan died of ill health. Mohini learned the truth about him, and she told  that, she accepted him if he was a sculptor, not a prince. So, he gives Adithan the title of King of Chola.
