Review - Diary Of A Wimpy Vampire

Diary of a Wimpy Vampire  was a spoof or rip-off of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, you can forgive yourself.  That information is accurate, to be sure, but it's also much better than you might have thought. I found it quite appropriate that this book was compared to a hybrid of Twilight and Diary of a Wimpy Kid, as I had read.  Seeing how the main character, Nigel, failed at being a vampire, was a terrific way to start the novel.

A lighthearted book for young tweens and teens who will chuckle at Nigel's incapacity to shine, complete a gym lap, or receive anything better than a C in math despite being almost 100 years old. Youngsters can relate to his struggles because of his spoiled younger sister, foolish parents, cruel classmates, and unfulfilled crush.
Even the most hesitant reader can follow along with the diary format, which includes the required awful poetry and humorous sketches, as well as Collins' straightforward writing style.
Diary of a Wimpy Vampire is a fun and lighthearted book that is appropriate for the intended readership.

I'll keep this brief because it was an interesting and humorous read. I've been suggested this for a long time since I adore the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series (don't judge; you can never be too old to read children's books!). The writer's incessant whining about how difficult it is for him to be himself, how much he loved Chloe, and how he wanted to declare his love for her irritated me a little. I was furious because it seemed so immature. He speaks like a 13-year-old boy, even though he is supposed to be around 100 years old. All I expected was a different conversation.

I was given this book to read by a coworker who knew that I had written a book with vampires. That is the situation. Vampires gave birth to other vampires, etc.
I looked at the book with some skepticism, but I thanked him for presumably noticing my youthful energy even though I could tell from the cover that it was meant for preteens. If I read this on my commute, would others think I'm weird? Indeed.

One of a sensitive vampire's many lovely poems to his beloved.
I WAIT IN ETERNAL PAIN
With your neck so long and  blood so sweet
Life without you is incomplete
How I long to stick my fangs in your vein
Instead I wait in eternal pain..
I thought the vampire parody was hilarious and fantastic. :D
