Theodore Robert Bundy(Ted Bundy), also known as Cowell, was an American serial killer who abducted, sexually assaulted, and killed numerous young girls and women in the 1970s. He lived from November 24, 1946, to January 24, 1989.Ted Bundy used his car as a tool to carry out brutal killings. He moved from state to state, stored weapons, and transported victims using it. Perhaps his deadliest weapon of all was the 1968 Volkswagen Beetle, which was tan in color. He eventually admitted to thirty killings carried out in seven states between 1974 and 1978, following more than ten years of denials. The actual number of victims he has claimed is unknown, however Bundy is connected to a teenage disappearance that took place. Bundy returned to the bodies of many of the people he kidnapped, grooming and having sex with them until their decomposition and wild animal annihilation prevented him from interacting with them any more. At least a dozen of his victims had their heads cut, and he kept the heads as souvenirs in his apartment. Bundy broke into houses at night on a few occasions and attacked his victims while they slept, mutilating, strangling, and/or sexually abusing them. Bundy's early years were challenging; he and his stepfather did not get along, and because of his timidity, he was frequently the subject of bullying. Eventually on, though, his social skills and intelligence allowed him to have a successful college career and he formed a number of seemingly normal emotional relationships with women. In spite of this seeming stability, between 1974 and 1978, he killed and sexually abused other young women in Florida, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, and Utah. Some people estimated that he was accountable for hundreds of fatalities, even though he would eventually confess to 28 murders.Prison officials discovered two hacksaw blades concealed in Bundy's cell in July 1984. One of the cell's windows featured a steel bar that had been sawed through entirely on both ends and reattached using a homemade adhesive made of soap. After a few months, when security discovered an unapproved mirror, Bundy was sent to a new cell. He was accused of a disciplinary infraction shortly afterward for having unapproved correspondence with John Hinckley Jr., another well-known felon. In 1979, he was found guilty of killing two college students and given the death penalty. He was given the death penalty once more the next year, this time for the rape and killing of a 12-year-old girl. In 1989, Bundy was put to death in an electric chair in Florida.
