Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is the ideal book to read if you want to get lost in an exciting, quick story. The fact that the majority of chapters end on cliffhangers keeps you interested throughout the entire book. This book is the first of J.K. Rowling's seven well-known Harry Potter books.
In the book, 11-year-old Harry Potter is invited to enrol at Hogwarts, a school for witchcraft and wizardry, through letter. He then finds out that a formidable wizard and his henchmen are searching for the sorcerer's stone, which will grant the wicked wizard immortality and invincibility. Before the wizard gets there, Harry makes the decision to seek for the sorcerer's stone, but his devoted companions Hermione and Ron prevent him from going there alone.
We shall be reminded of all the people we have met by characters in this novel. Everyone has encountered or knew a spoiled, obese boy like Dudley or a demanding, intrusive, yet sympathetic girl like Hermione. Many of the younger readers will also be able to relate to Harry readily, particularly with his early emotions of loneliness and belonginglessness and his pleasure at finally leaving that life behind in favour of one where he belongs and will be happy.
This novel is jam-packed with imaginations and imaginative moments, such when Harry Potter is instructed to fly on his broomstick and catch a floating golden ball. Eventually, Harry Potter gets up on his broomstick and reaches for the ball, but in a very tense moment, he falls off. He unintentionally wins the game for his team by throwing up the golden ball.
Regardless of age, anyone can enjoy and use their imagination when reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. However, I believe that young children, who can easily identify to the fantasy world, will find it to be the most delightful. So, I'd say that it's a must-read for younger people, but it's also a fantastic book overall.
This book keeps you reading without ever wanting to put it down, thus I would highly recommend it. By the book's conclusion, you have grown to adore the characters and long to read more. You won't be let down since Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, book two in the series, is just as fantastic! You are missing out on the best series ever if you haven't read any of the Harry Potter books.
