Hi Friends,
In this blog am gonna share my experience in a college hostel. I joined Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai. in the year 2008. We had our orientation program on Friday. Then Saturday and Sunday are holidays, so we had enough time to unpack ourselves and get to know each other. We had to stay in a dormitory for two days since they haven't allocated separate rooms for us. We were about fifteen members, others got separate rooms. The warden informed us that Mobile Phones are not allowed, we have to submit them and they will give us by the evening two hours. The warden is a north Indian, and ragging was a serious issue on those days, it wasn't allowed still a hostel senior called us to their room.
Seniors asked us to dance, sing, act like smoking, etc. We did so since we had no other way but still they have become good friends and well-wishers. By Saturday evening, Warden informed us we can go for outings on Sunday with the parent's permission. After taking their permission, we ten members decide to go out. We seriously started discussing where to go and what to do? We decided to go to watch a movie.
We all went to a movie in Mayajal, multiplex in ECR, Chennai which is a 51 km distance from our college. It's far, but we didn't care about that, we were excited about the movies. It's a Surya movie named Varanam Ayiram. It's very difficult to express our excitement and happiness in words.
We reached the hostel by 6 pm, we had to be there by 5 pm. We are one hour late and we tried to sneak inside, but we are new and not aware of those techniques and get caught by the Warden. She demanded an apology letter, we were like what “ apology” what is the meaning of “apology”. Another funny thing is since our warden is north Indian whatever she scolded it won't affect us much, since she will scold us in English.
After learning the meaning of apology, we wrote the letter and gave her. That was our first apology letter. Later, we will just sneak inside from the back where the hostel mess is there. We have done many crazy things like locking up our warden inside her room, later she called the watchman to unlock it. She was like "how dare you, girls, if you people get caught up you gonna get severe punishment.
Hostel life teaches us many things and the importance of life like the value of home-cooked food, the love of family members, an unending list of funny but fundamental lessons.
Have you people experienced any? If so, share it in your comments. Thank you everyone for reading.
