          Thank you everyone for supporting me till now, and keep supporting me further. In this blog, I am going to share some info about conscription. Conscription is nothing but compulsory enlistment in Army. It has declined since the 70s but still has it in the first place.

 In some countries, every citizen requires a certain amount of years to serve the nation except for some special cases such as physical or mental disorders. Many countries that use this system enlist only men, and few countries enlist both men and women. Those countries are Norway, Sweden, North Korea, Isreal, and Eritrea. Only Norway and Sweden have a gender-neutral enrollment that is where men and women are conscripted on equal terms. 

I was first aware of this compulsory military service when I was in Singapore. In Singapore, every male citizen and a PR(permanent resident) has to serve the nation. Those who didn't serve have to pay a fine not exceeding $10,000 or imprisonment for a certain term.  

I thought of writing this blog, when the Agnipath scheme was introduced. But, it is not mandatory for our citizens. Many youths were against it and they were not satisfied with the scheme, since there was no pension and the recruitment starts at the age of 17 ½ years itself, for me, the demand seemed genuine. But the protest went in a different direction. 

In other countries, they provide some allowance and food and shelter. But it is mandatory for them. But, here it is not that's the difference. From, researching this topic and reading the comments posted by the citizens of other countries, I came to know the issues that they faced while serving their duty.

I don't want to specify the name of that country. But, let me share the problems that they have faced. He said, only for the paper's sake they give $900 but all the food, shelter, clothing etc are deducted from it and the remaining is very less. And they are not allowed to leave the base on weekends or during off duty. Seniors' embezzlement is universal practice during winter. most of the conscripts spend their service as slave labour. If your superior asks you to build a building, then you have to accomplish it whatever means.
