Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
These lines by Robert Frost didn’t made much difference in my life then, but now………………………………
That night I was in a dilemma, should I choose my career or stay with my family. However, I choose career……
Everyone faces the dilemma to choose between career and family. Some choose career over family and some the other way. Sometimes people make choices based on what’s easiest. Sometimes people choose out of fear. Sometimes people don’t choose at all, but like the Rush song “Freewill” states, “If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.” Its hard to choose when the coin is in air.
My family has always been my port in a storm. I always wonder how parents can be so selfless when it comes to their child. Even if it was difficult for them to let me go, they did it without having a second thought just for the sake of my growth. I left my hometown to pave my own path leaving behind the best ones. Initially it was very difficult for me to stay without my parents. I got a job, I’m earning and paying my own bills, but deep down there is disquietness. Choosing career has made me responsible and independent but everyday when I lie down after a long hectic schedule the only thing that comes to my mind is my family. The only thing I wish is to see them smile till the last breath. One can understand the importance of family when they are not around.
In a Ted Talk called How to Make Hard Choices, philosopher Ruth Chang explains that we can uncover our own hidden power and learn something about ourselves in the process of making a hard choice. Who we are, or who we want to be, rests in how we assess certain values such as beauty, kindness, justice, family, education and success.
The question still persists ” What should one choose – career or family?”
Every time you have to make choices, either from heart or from brain but be aware of the judgments and don't get overwhelmed by what comes in your road
IN BUSINESS, WHAT YOU DON’T GET DONE TODAY CAN BE DONE TOMORROW. BUT WITH FAMILY, WHAT DOESN’T GET DONE TODAY IS GONE FOREVER.
