Vinayak Chandrasekaran's nice Night is full of consoling elements like a poem on the inherent defects we all have, a slice-of-life about ordinary folks riding local trains and eating buns with butter, and a movie that seems like a nice joke told on a gloomy night. What a joy it is to watch a movie that not only cherishes the commonplace joys of life, but also skillfully creates a world full with many such tidbits of everyday bliss.
A young IT professional who has a snoring problem begins his life with the woman of his dreams. Trouble arises, though, when his snoring starts to negatively impact both his partner's health and his own life.
Our main character Mohan, who has been dealing with his snoring difficulties, is presented to us even before the movie begins (when the titles show on the screen). He works for an IT business and comes from a lower middle class background. He has a rather routine existence, but that hasn't really bothered him. The main issue in his life has been his snoring. Because of his snoring, Mohan is known as "motor" in his workplace and is frequently teased by his coworkers. The oldest sister of Mohan, who is married and shares a home with her husband, lives with his mother and two sisters. When Mohan meets Anu (Meetha Raghunath) by chance, a remarkable kind of love grows between them and it also ushers in a significant change in Mohan's life. Mohan and Anu soon get married, and little do we realize that the snoring problem might cause major problems in their life.
It's difficult to find short stories with straightforward issues. Films now demand a larger-than-life approach. But when films like Thiruchitrambalam and DaDa succeed, you can't help but smile. These clips serve as a reminder of your difficulties and serve as evidence that they are not insurmountable. Good Night by Manikandan is a great little addition to the aforementioned list of films.
When they succeed, feel-good flicks are always a solid bet. There are a few films in Tamil cinema that take us on an emotional yet beautiful journey, despite the fact that it doesn't explore these genres as extensively as Malayalam cinema does. One such movie, Good Night, tells a touching story while delving into the issue of snoring and its severe difficulties.Even before the visuals begin, the movie informs us of the main character Mohan's (Manikandan) snoring problem before moving on to his day-to-day activities with the background of his family and love interest. Mohan resides with his mother, younger sibling, sister (Rachel Rebecca), brother-in-law Ramesh (Ramesh Thilak), and sister-in-law Ramesh. Rejections become commonplace for him, but when he meets Anu (Meetha Raghunath) by accident, everything changes.Unusual yet delightful circumstances allow the two to fall in love, and they quickly get married. Little does he realise that by keeping his snoring problems a secret from his life partner, he would ultimately hold himself responsible for his partner's lack of sleep and the subsequent health risks.
