          Hello everyone!!!! 

                Rule of law is concept originally from Europe. If you try to track history of modern law one will find references of Greek and Roman civilization. Due to this situation legal language is heavily influenced with Greek and Latin words.Today I will tell you about some Greek - Latin words which are used for legal work and quality content related to this field. 

1.Ab initio -: from the beginning 

                This phrase is mostly used to mention the contract was not according to law. e.g “ The contract was void ab initio”

2.Actus reus -: Wrongful act .

                 Actus reus mean conducting an act which is described as a crime against the law. E.g “ actus reus of theft”

3.Ad interim -: In the meantime

                  This one is relatively frequently used phrase in English. It is used to state the intermediate process of court.

4.Animus-: Intention

             This world is mostly used to show neutrality towards other party. E.g “ I have no animus towards Bloomberg.”

5.Agnate and Cognate-:

              These term as related to family law.Agnate means person related to other through male either by blood line or adoption. e.g - father's brother's son

                      Cognate means person related to other by male but not wholly through male line.E.g sister's son.

6.Ejudis generis-: of the same kind or nature

                       This phrase is used during interpreting an act or regulations which consist of loose words. E.g- If law referred to automobile, trucks and vehicles court may consider ejudis generis of not to include airplanes on the ground that other are land based transfer mode.

7. Intestate -: without a will

                If a person dies without making will for disposing a property, it is said that person died intestate. In such condition, property is disposed according to  personal law of respective religion in India. 

8.Locus standi-:

           locus standi is kind of right to approach the court for taking an action. If person things his interest are getting affected, he may file a suit to protect his interest. In India, locus standi is used when citizens fundamental rights gets violated.

9. Libel -:

              If a person makes any statement in and publish it causing  damage of reputation of other person is called as Liber. 

10. Ultra Virus -: 

          It any authority act beyond it's power imposed by law such act is called as ultra virus. e.g If a court gives a verdict which is not a part of its power is ultra virus .
