We have passed through twenty centuries after Christ and most of the scientific discoveries happened in the twentieth century. That is why history has recorded the twentieth century as the 'Century of Science'. Over the past century, the world has seen thousands of inventions that have improved human life. Among them, two inventions helped shrink the world into a hamlet. One is the telephone invented by Alexander Graham Bell, and the other:
"He saw a bird and made a plane" Yes, it would be good if we were amazed at the beauty of flying birds and could fly like them!! Why can't humans fly? Let's get to know the story of two historical heroes who worked hard for many years and risked their lives to finally make their dreams come true...
Orville Wright and Wilbur Wright are the rare brothers who gave mankind the power to fly. History calls them the Wright brothers for short. Wilbur Wright was born on April 16, 1867 in Melville, Indiana, USA, and Orville Wright, the youngest, was born four years later on August 9, 1871. Their father, Milton Wright, was a priest. The family was poor so the Wright brothers could not even finish high school but both had a lot of intelligence and energy. Once the father gifted both of them a flying toy. Made of bamboo sticks and cardboard, the toy could fly up to the roof of the house like a helicopter. It was then that the Wright brothers had the idea that if they made the toy bigger, they could fly it even higher outside. They tried and failed.
Both the Wright brothers loved to marvel at the beauty of flying birds. At the same time they enjoy doing various degrees and flying. Like those titles, both of them searched for a way to survive carrying the hope that one day we too will fly in the sky like birds. They started a printing company and printed newspapers but it went bankrupt. Later, as bicycles were becoming popular at that time, they ventured into the bicycle business. It was then that both of them heard about a German named Otto Lilienthal. It was then that they realized that some people had thought about flying before them. The Wright brothers heard of Otto's invention of a glider, a device that flew through the air under the power of the wind without an engine.
