Shivaji was born on February 19, 1627 in Shivanerikota, Maharashtra as the youngest son of Shahaji Bhosle and Jijabai. He grew up hearing legends and myths from his mother and grew up to be a perfect warrior and national strategist. Demonstrated prowess in martial arts and horse riding. Along with practical education, he also acquired knowledge in Hindu scriptures.
Trained under his guru Dadaji Kondadev, he became an embodiment of unblemished purity of character and national commitment. He built the Hindu empire on the foundation of dharma, achieved through common people, farmers and workers.
"Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja" aka Shivaji is a perfect example of how a true ruler should be. Even if we ask to show from history which is the best model in the matter of administration, we can highlight the period of Chhatrapati Shivaji's rule without any doubt.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is the founder of the Maratha Empire. A brave and stern ruler. He was a brave patriot who did not compromise with his enemies. He maintained an extraordinary secularism even while standing for Hinduism. Shivaji was at the forefront of protecting other religions.
This caused Shivaji to harbor a grudge against the Mughals as his father, Shahji, had to flee the country during the Mughal invasion. An independent nation of the Hindu Marathas, that was Shivaji's dream. For that, after studying the geography of Maharashtra well, he organized an army by adding Mawalis (hill tribesmen) around Poona.
In 1646, at the age of sixteen, Shivaji conquered Thornakota, which was under the control of the Sultan of Bijapur. Later Mudrodev, Supa, Chakkan and Kondana were also captured. Within a short period of time, he also captured the forts of Singadh, Jawali, Konkan, Aurangabad and Surat. He also built a new fort called Rajgarh. The Sultan of Bijapur did not like Shivaji's strengthening. He tried many methods to defeat Shivaji but nothing worked.
Shivaji's attack on Surat in 1664 led to war with the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb The Mughal administration was unable to fully Islamize India because of the victory of Maharaja Shivaji in the Deccan. If that had happened, India would have become a complete Islamic country or a part of any Islamic country like Afghanistan or Pakistan today. Where there are no Hindus there is naturally no secularism and no secularism. Even then Shivaji's army captured the forts by beheading the Udaibhas. The rise of Shivaji marked the decline of Mughal rule. On June 6, 1674, he was installed as the sole Chhatrapati of that Hindu empire.
This is because he did not establish an empire in the name of his own race like the Maurya Empire and the Gupta Empire. According to Swami Vivekananda, Chhatrapati Shivaji was the greatest Hindu in India. He did not condone corruption and treason and rejected all vestiges of slavery. He died on 3 April 1680. Shivaji and the Hindu empire he founded had a major role in giving confidence to a nation that had gone into self-oblivion. It is that history that excites the new generation. Dharma will prevail, Dharma alone will prevail.
