SO what is DNA..??
DNA means deoxyribonucleic acid. It is a long molecule that contains our unique genetic code. Its like a recipe book which holds all the instructions to make proteins in our bodies. It was first discovered in 1869 by Friedrich Miescher
Almost all cells contain DNA inside their nuclei. It is a heriditary molecule which is found in all living things.The actual length of human DNA is approximately 3 metres.

2. Humans and pumkins share 75% common DNA.
3. DNA has half life of 521 years. It means every bond will be destroyed roughly in 6.8 million years.
4. Human mitochondrial DNA contains 37 genes.
5. Humans have 46 chromosomes while coffee can have as many as 88.
6. If the DNA in all cells of the human body was uncoiled, it will stretch more than 16 billion km. It would reach sun and back over 600 times.

7. Cells contains 6-9 feet of DNA. They undergo damages more than a 100 times a day
8. DNA in all humans is 99.9% identical. Identical twins have the same genetic code.
9. DNA can store 25 gigabytes of information per inch. It is the most efficient storage system to humans.
10. In an average meal you eat approximately 55,000,000 cells of DNA.
11. For one of your cells to completely copy its DNA it takes roughly 8 hours.
12. The entire data of the world can be stored in 4 grams of DNA. One gram of DNA holds information as much as 1 trillion CD'S.
13. Humans share 50% of their DNA with bananas.
14. Humans and chimpanzees share 94%-99% of their DNA.
15. The sides of the DNA ladder are made of sugar and phosphate atoms.
16. The human genome is so long. If you type 60 words per minute for 8 hours a day it will take you about 50 years to type it out.
17. Zebrafish share 70 per cent of genes with humans.
18. Fruit flies share 44% our human genes while the yeast shares 26%.
