What are the odds that the first ad you see in the morning newspaper reads something like this?
"Amrutanjan: Trusted pain specialist for 125 years;
PNB : Your trust continues to inspire our enduring Success story,
Nilkamal- India's most trusted plastic chairs
Maggie- Loved and trusted for 35 years"
54% said in a survey. Of these 72% said there isn't only one but a very few sound reasons why people don't trust them. This may be debatable but the point that I am trying to make is : Trust is earned when actions match words.
Before we proceed further, let me share with you a short story with a beautiful message.....
A little girl and her father were crossing a bridge. Father was a little scared about the safety of his darling child. So he asked her:
'Sweetheart, please hold my hand so that you don't fall into the river.'
The little girl said, 'No Dad.You hold my hand.'
'What's the difference?' replied the little girl.
'If I hold your hand and something happens to me, chances are that I may let your hand go. But if you hold my hand, I know for sure that no matter what happens, you will never let my hand go.'
Isn't that a good example of trust?
In any relationship, the essence of trust is fundamental. Human beings need to trust. Trust allays anxiety. There could be no civilization, enduring health or mental wellness without trust.
Trust is the faith you have in someone. To trust someone means: you can rely on them and feel comfortable or safe with them. It is the building block for any relationship without which the foundation will always be shaky. Without trust, the most ordinary interpersonal, commercial, medical and legal interactions become night Marish. In fact, a relationship without trust is simply chaotic and dysfunctional. In contrast, distrust is fraught with anxiety and resentment. No lonliness is lonelier than distrust, they say.
What is the most important thing that we want from any relationship? The answer is Trust. We cannot deny that trust is something that we all want, both in ourselves trusting others and others trusting us. Having someone to trust is wonderful and to be told that you are trusted is an even greater feeling.
Trust is fragile and can be defined as a glass which is hard to make, easy to break and when it's broken it will never be the same. To make a glass, you have to put a lot of materials together, melt them at a high temperature, shape them and wait until they cool. It's process is hard and takes long time to do. Similarly, trust is also hard and takes long time to build up.
Trust is a worthy feeling which is hard to give and receive from someone. So, if you have got the trust of someone already, think carefully before doing something that can ruin his trust because trust takes a year to build, seconds to break and forever to repair.
A small message widely in circulation nowadays brings out succinctly the meaning of three important terms - Faith, Trust and Hope :
Once all villagers decided to pray for rain; on the day of prayer all the people gathered but only boy came with an umbrella .
That's FAITH
When you throw a baby in the air , she laughs because she knows you will catch her.
That's TRUST
Every night we go to bed, without any assurance of being alive the next morning but still we set the alarms to wake up.
THAT'S HOPE
