The different types of living organisms and communities interact with each other with the help of their physical environment.These medium can be soil,water and air etc.They interact because they are connected to each other by their food chain in which one organism eat another one.The green organisms like plant and tress interact with soil to get important nutrients from the soil.For example:-phosphorous and nitrogen.They also interact with air to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Here, with the example of plant and trees we can see that they are fully independent to live their life on their own.Thus,any living and non living organisms which are capable to live independent and forms their existence is called ecosystem.

Sunlight is only thing which ecosystem needs for proper functioning.Desired sunlight on the field or water can create life there.Some of the examples of ecosystem are mountains,forest,pond,river etc.

Pond or river is a ecosystem of all the aquatic life which are present in them.Similarly forest is a ecosystem of plant,animals,soil,water etc anything which is part of it can be called part of ecosystem.In this world most famous ecosystems are natural ecosystem like desert,forest and mountain.But,there are also man made ecosystems in the world.For example:-parks,crop field,fish aquarium and artificial lake.They were the example of some man made ecosystem and we all seen them once in our life.I am sure many of you also have fish tank.This tank is also a type of little ecosystem.

All the ecosystem in the world are mainly made up of two component:- 

1.Non-living component

2.Living component

The non living component of an ecosystem include the soil,water,air or any physical surrounding along with inorganic materials like nitrogen,oxygen,potassium,sodium and sulphur etc.The climatic components like temperature,light,humidity and pressure are also comes under non living part of ecosystem.

The living component of an ecosystem is made up of many living organism population which are inter-related to each other other with their food chains.For example:- All types of green plant and trees or we can also called them autotrophs.

All types of animals which are dependent on others including humans or we can say heterotrophs.

All types of bacteria and fungus which consumes dead organisms or we can say saprotrophs.

They all are under in living component of ecosystem.
