K.G.F: Chapter 2 is a 2022 Indian Kannada-language period action film written and directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Hombale Films' Vijay Kiragandur. It is the second instalment of a two-part series and a sequel to the 2018 film K.G.F: Chapter 1. Yash, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Srinidhi Shetty, and Prakash Raj star in the film. It follows Rocky, an assassin who, after establishing himself as the kingpin of the Kolar Gold Fields, must maintain his dominance over adversaries and government officials while also confronting his past.
K.G.F: Chapter 2 is the most expensive Kannada film ever made, with a budget of 100 crore. The technicians from its predecessor were retained for Neel, with Bhuvan Gowda handling cinematography.
While Yash and Srinidhi Shetty have returned to reprise their roles, Sanjay Dutt was cast in a key role in February 2019. Raveena Tandon's presence in the film was first mentioned in the media in February 2019. According to a news report in The Times of India, Tandon will play a "major role" in the film. Despite becoming a breakout star following the release of the predecessor, Srinidhi turned down seven films in order to begin filming for the sequel. In April 2019, the producers held an audition for aspiring actors who want to be a part of the film's cast.
On July 29, 2019,, it was revealed that Sanjay Dutt would play the main antagonist Adheera.Before the release of its predecessor in December 2018, the filmmakers shot 20% of the sequel, and the crew worked double shifts until January 2019. On January 4, it was announced that they had completed 15% of the shooting and planned to resume filming in the summer of 2019.
K.G.F: Chapter 2 filming began on March 13, 2019 in Hyderabad, with a formal puja ceremony.
After an initial round of filming in May 2019 near Bangalore,[41] Yash announced that he will only join the sets in June 2019. [42] Filming began on June 4 at the Lalita Mahal Palace in Mysore with Yash arriving on the set on June 6. K.G.F: Chapter 2 was originally scheduled to hit theatres on October 23, 2020, to coincide with the Dussehra festival. The release, however, was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. The filmmakers announced in January 2021 that it will be released theatrically on July 16, 2021. However, it was rescheduled for the same reason.
