How To Build Healthy Self-esteem?

Hi guys, hope you are all doing well! I am back with the final blog of the self-esteem series wherein I will be sharing a few ideas on how to build healthy self-esteem. So, let's get into it:

  1. Be nice to yourself- Why can't we be nice to ourselves if we can be nice to our mates? Speak to yourself the same way you would talk to your mates. Start by making a list of things you like about yourself, don't worry the list can start with as few as 1-2 things.
  2. Take one step at a time- Do not rush. Things aren't going to change overnight, they will take some time. So, take a few challenges and move forward slowly- at your own pace.
  3. Forgive yourself- It's okay to make mistakes. You don't have to be too harsh on yourself. You make a mistake, you forgive yourself and you learn from it. Making a mistake doesn't make you a bad person.
  4. Do not compare with others- It's an endless cycle, trust me. There will be things others will be better at, but that's not what we want to focus at. You compare yourself with your journey so far and see the progress you have made.
  5. Spend time with your people- Be with people who love you and care about you. The people who supports you and motivates you throughout your journey are the people you want to spend your time with.
  6. Learn to accept compliments- Don't shy away when others compliment you. I mean it might get uncomfortable because of the lack of self-esteem, but you gotta start somewhere. Don't feel that you are unworthy of the compliment or dwell into the cycle of overthinking about your capabilities. Accept it and go on.
  7. Do what makes you happy- Last but not the least, you do you. Do things that you enjoy. It could be anything- simply reading a book or going for a walk or exercising.A little Me-Time in a day is very important as it reminds you that you are awesome and you deserve to do things that make you happy.
