The Fourth Dimension And Time!

An attempt at visualizing the fourth dimension:Take a point, stretch it into a line, curl it into a circle, twist it into a sphere, and puch through the sphere.

-Albert Einstein

Hello! Welcome back to my new blog and thank you for reading my previous ones.

Can you draw four lines perpendicular to each other?

You'll find out soon that you can't, as you try it. But, surprisingly it is really possible,  only that we can never visualize it and that would represent the fourth dimension.

The idea of a just one dimension additional to that of the three that we know, itself might sound bizarre, if not incomprehensible when I tell you that there are a total of thirteen of them.

Holding on to that thought for now, let's talk about just the fourth one. Just as I told you, the fourth perpendicular line to that of the three that you know will give you the fourth dimension which may seem to be impossible to exist, but does.

It can also be imagined in another way.

If you take a zero dimensional entity which is a point and extend it, you get a one dimensional entity which is a line. Extending the one dimensional entity, you get a two dimensional entity which is a plane and extending that plane, you finally get the three dimensional entity which is a space.

But what if you try to extend the three dimensional space? I know you can't but still if you do, you will get the four dimensional entity which is called, if you don't mind, a tesseract or a hypercube to shapify it.

So, a point to a line to a square to a cube and finally to a hypercube.

And if you wanna think about it, here's what the tesseract should look like to us living in the three dimensional space.

Suppose it's a fine bright day when you walk to your window just to have glance of the atmosphere and you see a pole on the other side of which, is an ant crawling. You know that you can't see that ant since it's on the other side of the pole, but you could, if you were in the fourth dimension.

Another theory from many great scientists including Einstein proposes the fourth dimension to be time or the temporal dimension since, according to einstein himself, we cannot move through any dimension without moving through the dimension of time. One cannot be somewhere at a particular moment and elsewhere at the same instance, rather they would have moved through the tamporal dimension, and hence the time would be changed.

Some scientists are hence in a search of what is called a wormhole, which could be a pathway of ‘temporal dislocation’.

If geometry doesn't already baffle you, the most important and one the most famous theories, The String Theory(also called The Theory of Everything) also doesn't leave the three dimensions undisturbed, and unlike the other theories, it in fact requires to have more than 10 dimensions to be proved.

Knowing that I don't have to explain it all to you, since you have the internet too, lol, I would now like to conclude the blog here.

Thank you for reading till the last.

And consider following.
