I Experienced Flood For The First Time.

on 9th august kerala experienced a heavy and massive flood due to heavy rain in the monsoon season. As a security measure  in the prevailing situations the Indian meteorological department had issued a red alert on 9 districts  in  northern and central kerala, orange alert in 3 districts in   central kerala and two  yellow alerts in southern india.

Thousands of people were evacuated into safer people , especially the people living in remote areas and heavy flood prone areas   and people living near dams.

more than 120 people died in the flood.

the wounds that was caused by the flood have not got healed even after two years!

flood hit my home town very drastically. we were a little sure that we wont be affected by the floods because we havent experienced  in the past years. so we didnt took a lot measures to face it . but!!!!

one day around evening, people started coming to my home and to our neighbours telling that you should leave immediately as the force and flow of the water in the rivers and nearby water bodies had increased . we hadnt had any idea what to do. because we werent prepared for it. so next what we did was we moved our cars to a safer place , took some clothes , medicines and other essentials and left our houses!

we went to our relatives house which was  a safe option for us.

we reached that place at evening itself and during night what we hear is that our house's first floor

was flooded with river water and the water is still rising. our hearts stopped beating for a second

that we couldnt even imagine of that situation and was never prepared for such a situation. we prayed and prayed to god to change things back to normal.Thankfully, the place were we stayed was a nice place and we had every facilities and there was no shortage of food. thank god for that.

we stayed there for like two weeks and when all the water swept out of our homes we went to see the condition of our house. I was literally shocked to see the condition. all the white walls were covered with mud. all the beds , sofa , dining table, study table all things which were  made without wood were destroyed. there were snakes!!!!!I still remember the day I left my house i washed my school uniform and hang it to dry , and when i went to my house after all this i saw my uniform hanging still there but covered with water and mud.all the scenes were heartbreaking for me. my room destroyed my clothes were ruined and i cried …

(ps I know compared to others peoples huge losses, this is not as huge but it is for me…)
