Previously on Sivagamiyin Sabadham, young man named Paranjothi and the Buddhist Monk travel towards the city of Kanji. On the way to Kanji, Monk saved Paranjothi from the snake bite.

      The Monk walked in silence.
Again Paranjothi said, “Swami!  Don't you know what is coming from now on?”  He asked.

“Shall I tell you something that is coming?”

      “Tell me.”

"A great war is coming to this country!"

      "A great war?"

“Yes.  The most terrible war is going to flow like a river of blood.  Mahendra Lake is going to become a lake of blood.”

      “Oh!  It's scary!  Enough!”

Paranjothi, after a while, said, how the country’s affairs  have anything to do with me, Swami?  Tell me if you know anything about me!”  He said.

"You're going to have a hard time tonight"

"Oh God!  Shouldn't you say something for good prediction?”

"By the grace of Buddha, that difficulty will be removed."

“I am a Saivan (a member of a branch of Hinduism devoted to the worship of Siva)!  Will Buddha bless me?”

      "The Buddha's mercy is infinite."
"Who's coming?"  asked Paranjothi.

In the dim evening light, a strange figure could be seen coming towards them.

“Don't you see it?  The Jain sage is coming!”  said Buddha Bhikshu.

“Are the Jain sages still here?”  asked Paranjodi.

"Three-fourths of the people have gone to the Pandiyan country (South part of Tamilnadu) and the rest will soon be gone."

The Jain sage came near.  He is not as exalted as a Buddhist Bhikshu.  He was tall and stocky.  He wore loincloth only, and in one hand he held a water pot.  Peacock feather fan in other hand.  A little boy curled up in his neck.
As he approached, the Buddha Bhikshu and the Jain sage greeted each other.

"Where do you travel in this dark?"  asked the Buddhist Monk.

Sage replied, “Aha!  What is my business in this terrible place?  Don't you know that the Thondai region (North eastern part of Tamilnadu) is burning?  I am going to the Pandiyan country," he said.

“Is there anything special today?  When the Buddhist Bhikshu asked, the Jain sage said, “Yes, there is something special.  They are going to barricade the castle gates!”  Saying that, he rushed up.

“Once upon a time in this Pallava kingdom, everyone listened jain, After Emperor Mahendra came, everything changed. Now..” said the Buddha Bhikkhu and stopped.

      "Now what?"  He asked.

"Now the singing of Saiva and Vaishnavas (branch of Hinduism devoted to the worship of Vishnu) is celebrated in this country,"

“Oh!”  said Paranjodi.  Then he said, "What is it, Jain sage said  something about closing the castle gates?"  He asked.

"Look!"  said the Monk.  At that point in the road they took a sharp turn. On the opposite, the southern fort gate of Kanchi city was seen.  The great gates of the fort were closed.

Here ends the First volume of first part of Novel.
