Prologue ~
The concept of this story is from a book I read lately called “They both die at the end” by Adam Silvera. After the world of not knowing when you would die, an organization called “ Death Cast ” is launched which warns you about your death in the next 24 hours. And it is never wrong.
CHAAYA SHARMA.
After a long chat with Riddhi, my best friend, about the examinations tomorrow, i sit back on my desk and open my books to start where i stopped. Out of 9 chapters i have done 8 already and now it is 7 pm and i have to do that last chapter now. I put my phone on charging and put on my desk light and start studying. After about 5 minutes, my phone rings, i try not to answer whoever it is.
It rings one more time, so i take it and wait for the caller ID to appear as it was unknown no. And it was someone who i never hoped would call me this early in my life. It pops up “Death Cast”, i finally pick it up hoping it is a wrong number or a prank.
“Ms Chaaya Sharma?”
“Y…Yes…?”
“Chaaya, I regret to inform you that in the coming 24 hours you will meet an untimely death.” Before each word of this sentence, i hope it is a prank. But it doesnt seem so.
“On the behalf of Death cast, we are so sorry for losing you. Live this day to the fullest.” I hang up before saying anything. Some people dont really believe in this, but i do.
Shakingly i sit back on my chair staring at my books, which i was preparing to give exam tomorrow, as if i have a tomorrow anymore.
After about 5 ..10 or 50 mins( i have lost the track of time when i dont even have enough), my mother walks in just to see me all teared up. I tell her everything about the call. She hugs me tightly trying to be strong for me, as she has always been since my dad died when i was 4. She asks “Wha….what do you want to do now?”.
And i just keep getting all the flashbacks of my life's highlights, when i went to Kashmir for skiing, when i was in kerala in a houseboat, when we went to Koko trail, Hawaii. Everything flashes before my eyes and i cant think of anything now.
To be continued….
