Welcome or welcome back my dear bloggers to my daily blogs. I hope you all are in well health and are having a blast of a day.ππ
Toda, we will discuss about a very popular self help book written by Stephen R. Covey, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. You must have heard about this one somewhere as it is one of the most popularised books on business and self help. So as the name itself suggests, there are 7 habits that we can learn from this and we will be learning about these 7 habits in a summarised manner..
1 Be proactiveβ¦
We need to realize that we are in complete control of our own lives, and that we need to take responsibility for our actions thereafter. Reactive people take a passive position- they think the world is happening to them, which becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
2. Begin with the end in mindβ¦
It is important to have a clear idea about who you want to be and where you want to go. If you are not clear about the mental creation of where you want to be, you are at the mercy of randomness and uncertainty.
3. Put first things first.
We need to act according to our values rather than desires at any given moment. Spend less time on unimportant matters.
4. Think win / win
There are four fundamental approaches in life : Win / Win ( the correct approach ), Win / lose ( egotistical ), Lose / win ( pushover) and lose / lose. Make sure that both you as well as other people are gaining.
5. Seek first to understand, then to be understood.
When listening from our own perspective ( unempathetically) we respond in one of these ways : evaluate ( agree / disagree ), probe ( ask from our perspective), advise ( based on experience) and interpret.
6. Synergize
The idea of synergizing is that the whole of a well functioning team is greater than the mere sum of its part. Synergy allows you to value differences in others as a way to expand your perspective, sidestep negative energy and look for good in others.
7. Sharpen the Saw.
To be effective, we must devote time to renovate ourselves.
So that is all for today, guys. I hope you find this helpful, you dont need to read that whole book.
Thank you for reading this farβ¦.
