Of all the technologies you lay hands on lock and keys have only evolved to get better with time. We have come a long way from the gigantic blocks of rocks to secure a castle to encrypted security locks! The millennia devices have undergone a massive shift from mechanical to electronic. Here is the history of locks that will make you thank your forefathers for inventing one!

The first of the locks were seen about 6000 years ago in Mesopotamia. The wooden pin locks gave the people the ability to leave possessions unattended. The trend resulted in personalizing locks and helped people keep track of who was coming and going.

ANCIENT LOCK

THE ORIGIN OF LOCK---

The earliest rudimentary lock sysytem dates back to 4000BC. In the mid 19th century in Iraq, the mechanism was discovered where the wooden design resembles the modern-day pin lock principle. The alternative to the lockswas to have a guard to secure your door. The Egyptians moved from the lock design to metals. They looked advenced and had pins to detect the proper key structure. The Romans adopted the same version but less bulky. It was attached to chest drawers, and the key system got creative and could be worn on finger rings and neckpieces.

THE AGE OF LOCK PICK AND SKELETON KEY---

The overall structure remained by far the same. The locks had a keyhole with a cylinder. Each keyhole had concentric plates that would block keys other than the one madefor it…                                      By manipulating the keyhole and adding more wards, the locksmiths were able to guarantee more security. Dozens of different designs cropped up , making it a craft. In 1779 Robert Barron patented the double acting lever lock. The pins were lifted, and the scope for picking them was minimized.

lever tumbler lock

Cobbs shocked the public in 1851 with the future of the security system. It was known as the YALE SYSYTEM and designed to improve the tumbler lock sysytems.

The development of physical security was more complicated than linear history. The ancient Romans pioneered early combination lock and transformed the object into ideas..The future of physical security could be based on an encrypted network that would evolve and learn.. In future may be locks are gonna open with retina imaging and voice etcetra,, which is happening nowada. And it's gonna evolove more in future…

THAT'S IT FOR THIS BLOG…. I KNOW I HAVE BEEN NOWHERE TO BE FOUND FROM THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS….I WASN'T FEELING MYSELF.. BUT I AM OKAY NOW….I MISSED U ALL… SO… ENJOY MY THIS BLOG… I WILL BE BACK WITH ANOTHER..
