Net fishing is completely banned in Maldives to preserve the marine life and resources of maldives. Only pole and line method is allowed in Maldives. Catching mackerels with nets is prohibited. killing sharks is prohibited.

6. HOME OF WHALE SHARKS

The Whale Sharks , the world's biggest fish has made its official sanctuaries in Maldives with 3 places along the archipelago. The Maldives are one of the few place in the world where these magnificent creatures is sen all over the year. Adventure seekers can go swim along with Sharks with certified instructor.

7. EQUATORIAL SUNLIGHT

In maldives, being close to the equator so it receives sunlight almost at an angle of 90 degree. So don't forget to use Sun protection with SPF of 50+.

8. NATIONAL TREE OF MALDIVES

The coconut tree is the national tree of maldives and you can see it on their flag. The coconut trees in Maldives can last for at least a hundred years and grew up to 30 metres tall.

 9.  HISTORICAL CORAL HOUSE

In traditional Maldivian houses were made form corals due to coral mining. Those houses made up of coral rocks from shallow reef flats.

A house made of coral was sign of luxury house and prestige. In Maldives you can still see old coral houses.

10. CABINET METTING UNDERWATER 

A president of maldives once held a cabinet meeting underwater. On October 17,2009, Nasheed and 13 other government officials participated in the first underwater cabinet meeting.
