Only Tooth Brush? Stop Now ......

Hai all,,

We all brush our teeth right? To make it more beautiful..But..

Is toothbrush only enough??

We brushes atleast once in a day right? Is that enough to maintain oral hygiene? Answer is a big No..

Apart from toothbrush and tooth paste we should use other aids like oral rinses, dental floss, tongue cleaners,interdental brushes etc.

We should brush two times everyday..once before breakfast and once after dinner..why is it so particular ? Once we sleep keeping mouth shut for eight to ten hours there will be a bacterial favorable environment created in the mouth,with reduced saliva and increased temperature in the oral cavity. So to remove the bacterial accumulation it's necessary to brush twice a day with a flouridated toothpaste.  

Also it is very important to follow the correct brushing technique.If you are not following the correct one it can itself lead to multiple problems in your mouth. I will be explaining brushing techniques in my next blog.

Other aids like rinses should be used on a regular basis in order to prevent any dental problems..these medicated rinses will help in removing the etiological factors for various dental problems.

Dental floss are  long thin waxed strips to be inserted interdentally to remove any stucked food materials. Also interdental brushes are brushes which we can be used in between the tooth where in our toothbrush can't reach.  

Tongue cleaners should be used to clean the dorsal surface of the tongue to prevent halitosis. It should be used with minimal pressure as tongue is the home for various taste buds.

Selection of all these items is also very important. We have to select which is apt for our oral conditions. Toothbrush is now available in various types like electric, battery operated etc. Old people and physically challenged people can actually use such items.

And also it's very important to visit your dentist once in six months to identify any existing problems and also to prevent any diseases.

Many have been neglecting the oral health when compared to general health..but everybody should understand that a good oral cavity is the door for good health.

Our teeth perform many functions like chewing , grinding, biting, helps in phonetics, also boost our confidence with our beautiful smile. Isn't it? So it is very important to maintain the health of your oral cavity.

So it's important to use various oral hygiene aids to maintain a healthy oral cavity and for your general health. Thankyou
