Covid-19 And Loss Of Education.

Coronavirus pandemic which started from China in the late 2019 , has taken the whole world by storm. The human population was never ready for the fact that a small virus could bring this huge turmoil.

In 2020 when the first wave hit the earth, the entire world was brought to a hault as lockdown was declared in almost all the countries of the world. People started doing work from home, students stopped going to school.

In India , during mid October 2020, the rate of positivity began to slow down a bit and slowly things started getting to normal. But the sector which got most affected is Education.

Today its August 2021, the second wave has already hit and now slowly settling down, people are either working from home or going to office. But students are still at home only. Yes schools are arranging work from home for their students and teachers are giving their best. But the question is, in a country like India how many students have access to Internet at home? How many families have electricity at home. How many parents can afford laptops or smart phones for their children? Tu

We all know the answers. So for students study from home for all is possible only on records and not on real ground.

Now coming to students who appeared board exams this year. The first board exam in life plays a very important role in building self confidence and self assessment. A student gets to know where he or she stands as compared to their competitors. But bad luck they couldn't appear their first board exam and marks were given on the basis of their prior achievements. That's not fair on their part. Moreover most of the students were given huge Percentage of marks and in future when their marks would be compared to the previous or the next batches, that would be unfair to the other batches.

Also most people have started mocking the students of 2021 batch as they are the undeserving batch and so on. Sad part is all these judgement are based on what? Students were not allowed to prove themselves.

So basically this covid-19 pandemic has most badly affected education. All other departments are functioning to some extent if not fully.

Government must take steps to make sure education doesn't get lost in this struggle for survival. What would be the meaning of mere surviving if human race fails to grow. And growth of human civilization is not possible without education. We cannot afford to return back to our primitive cave dweller selves.

Thank you.
