Search Engines And Thoughts Behind

Every search starts with a query and that query arises with the number of thoughts cooking in a person's mind. The more queries the more will be the need for an efficient search engine fulfilling a searcher's queries. These thoughts, when converted in words, are the queries a user is searching for.

Words are just a way to express the meaning of thoughts to others. Search engines also communicate with a user through words that are trying to answer the queries with relevant websites when the words used in both the queries and websites match. Expressing your thoughts in words is important to get the answer to what you are searching for.

The first search engine created after the invention of the internet was Archie in 1990 by Alan Emtage, and the most popular search engine at present all over the world is Google covering more than 50% of the searches. Google has developed itself according to the growing needs of its users making every query of a searcher easy. Implementing voice search in Google’s Chrome browser was one of the features developed by Google making it easy for its searchers to search their queries even while doing some of their important work. It is nowadays not rare seeing people talking to their cell phones while walking or doing some of their core works.

Ads and thoughts behind the search

Google gets 60,000 searches every second, each search with a different query, problem, and symptoms. Understanding a searcher’s query and then providing him with the best solution that is answering his queries with the most relevant websites is the job of a search engine.

Learning how a search engine works on finding or matching the query of a user with the most appropriate answer is essential for an advertiser as he has to frame his ads in such a way that it satisfies both the search engine and the user.

Understanding how and what users think before deciding to click on a particular ad on a search page will help the advertisers frame their marketing strategy better.

A search engine ranks an ad on its search page on the basis of highest relevance because the motive of a search engine is to satisfy the user and make him visit their search engine again. Similarly, if an advertiser does not provide relevance in their websites, the user may just visit the website or try to look for some information on the web pages and then leave the website without being a customer.

No advertiser wants his user to return or bounce back once he visits your web page, so it is the responsibility of an advertiser to generate users' interest so that he does not return back without being a customer.

Understanding searcher’s queries

Every person has a unique way of thinking. Every person frames his question in a different manner and going through the various ways a person may think or frame his query can help you decide your set of keywords and finding your appropriate user who will get his answer for the query he searched for on your site.

Every time you will try to make a set of keywords consisting of almost all related questions which can be framed for your product or service and then you will see a totally different question or query searched by the user, related to your business that did not even strike your mind.

Every person has a different perspective while searching for a product, service, and query. Some try to ask directly some frame it in a form of a sentence and some just put on the words of product or service they are searching for.

For instance, a person living in California needs a carpenter for his wooden chair to be repaired. The different types of words he can search for can be direct, formed in a question or maybe he wants to repair the chair on his own so he just wants to know the steps or equipment required for repairing the chair. Let’s discuss what can be the different queries or questions he can type into the search engine. Many people instead of typing the whole question try to search it in short or say they type directly what they are in need of, in this case, the keyword searched by the user may be ‘Carpenter in California’, ‘ Carpenter near me’, ‘Carpenter nearby’.

Second can be when the query is typed in a form of a question and they want the answer for, that is ‘Where can I find the carpenter in California’, ‘Where do I find the California carpenter’, here the user has typed directly what he was thinking and looking for.

The third case is the rare case, where the user is not looking or finding any service on a search engine rather he wants the information on how to repair the wooden chair or maybe what material and equipment will be required to repair the chair. The query can be ‘How can I repair the wooden chair’ or the user may describe the particular problem he wants the solution for, that is ‘How to repair the leg of a broken chair’.

Different people have different perspectives to think and different thinking leads to unique queries. Most of the queries will be poles apart and unique but the answer to these queries is same that is where can they find this service or product. Exceptions like how can I do this service on my own are different cases as here the user is finding or searching for the information rather than service.

There is a solution for the advertiser or the website owner too, and that is a discussion with the family members, colleagues, or friends. Giving them a situation like this and then asking them what will be their search query or what would they type in the search box for this problem and then noting down the different queries they will be answering.

This way you will be getting the different queries which a user may search and these queries can be your keywords. Learning and understanding the doubts or questions a user may search for is not a difficult task all you have to do is put yourself in the shoes of your user or customer and think the way they must be thinking before searching for any answer to their question.
