National Gallery of Modern Art:
This museum began its journey in 1989 and is located in South Delhi. It houses around 12000 pieces from different time periods — from medieval times till modern era. It is an exemplary place to visit for those looking for some great art, paintings, and sculptures.
National Museum:
National Museum houses many collections of Indian art from various periods. They cover a wide range of subjects including Archaeology, History, Ethnography, Anthropology, Natural history, Geology, Paleontology, Art, Literature, Music etc.
Mysore Palace Museum:
The Mysore palace museum is the first step towards learning about the history of the Karnataka state. The palace was established in 1763 by Hyder Ali, a ruler from the Mysore Kingdom. He wanted to establish his rule over the region, but he did not want to fight against the British. Therefore, he decided to invite British officers for talks. As a result of this, they accepted his terms and joined him in building this palace. The palace became the residence of Tipu Sultan, a ruler from the Tipu Sultan kingdom. The buildings were designed using elements from different architectural styles,including Hindu, Islamic, and European architecture.
Gandhi Memorial Museum:
This museum was opened in 1982 at Bhawanipatna, India. This memorial celebrates Mahatma Gandhi, who laid down his life for peace. The memorial was created after Gandhi’s assassination. It consists of two parts – a park and a house. The park contains a statue of Gandhi along with sculptures depicting scenes from his life. Here the visitors can learn about his teachings and his philosophy regarding independence. The museum displays various items used by Gandhi throughout his life, such as bed sheets, clothing, shoes, utensils, etc.
Kolkata City Museum:
Kolkata city museum is located in East Bengal University campus. The museum exhibits collections related to art, archaeology, and antiques. There are about 6,000 artefacts housed here, ranging from stone objects, weapons and fossils.
Indira Gandhi National Centre For Arts:
Indira Gandhi National Center For Arts is a place dedicated to performing arts. It hosts cultural events, exhibitions, and musical concerts. One can view paintings, sculpture, photography, crafts, and drawings displayed here.
Delhi Museum:
The Delhi museum was established under Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, who died in 1666 A.D.. This museum is considered to be one of the oldest in India and is located at Mehrauli. It consists of two parts: the first part contains the collections related to Indian civilization and art while the second part deals with the history of Delhi.
M.A. Chidambaram Pillai Museum:
The museum was established in 1957, at Chettupuzha near Tiruvalla. This museum showcases various artifacts related to history, culture, lifestyle and customs of Kerala.
